394 days in to this war, some things are pretty standard by now, meaning, they’re day-to-day, de rigueur le guerre. Things like: walking around with a concealed weapon (that took a bit of getting used to), not panicking when the kids don’t answer their phones immediately (wait until after the 3rd ring); extreme emotional eating, being normal with the abnormal.
Holy Shit now what!? Explosions near Damascus. Commandos capture enemy officer in Syria. Iran executes a Jew who was defending himself. The Saudis are forming a Palestinian state behind Israel’s back. Iran tried to assassinate an Air Force base commander. 60 rockets fired into northern Israel from Lebanon! 60!
Holy shit! Israeli settlers torch 15 Palestinian cars! This West Bank story is the one that worries me the most. It’s the closest front to my house, ~7km to the east. People only see the fireworks in Lebanon, Gaza, Syria, and Iran, but the real iceberg is what’s happening between the River and the Green Line, holy places. There’s never enough time to talk about the really big icebergs because everyone is focused on the here and now…
